Pitbulls are very popular nowadays. Humans created this very specialized breed as a result of careful breeding with goals to produce the desired traits and eliminating unwanted ones. The American Pitbull Terrier has been "selectively" bred for hundreds of years to fight other dogs. Historically, the main purpose of the breed was to fight other dogs and to participate
in the dog pits.
Thus, in the same way that Labradors were bred to retrieve birds, APBTs were bred to face other dogs in mortal combats. That sad line of breeding "work" created for these dogs nowadays does not exist, although the Pitbulls make excellent guards and very good companions.
That is why there are Pitbulls that still may have the traits of fighters and may be aggressive towards other dogs. Naturally a lot depends on the owner of the Pitbull and the way the dog is trained. Thus, some owners may train these aggressive traits in their Pitbulls.
Pitbulls Breeders Pictures - Dog's Usage
If the Pitbull is well behaved and obedient it will be a great ambassador for the breed and help to fight against prejudice and misconceptions. These are very adaptable dogs that should have enough exercise or other positive outlets for their energy. If
not given enough exercise, they can become destructive and even dangerous for people, animals, other dogs and sometimes for an owner.
On the whole, Pitbulls are easygoing couch-potatoes, but can also be quite rambunctious until they mature. Pitbulls become mature quite late compared to other breeds and in some cases mature at the age of 2-3 years.
